introducing....baby boy blakley...

...David Elijah Blakley!
Born Thursday, February 19, 2009
3:49 pm
8 pounds, 7 ounces; 20 inches
No more BBB...it's official...we chose a name! We'll be calling our sweet boy Elijah. And sweet, he is! I'm so in love, although everything just seems so unbelievable right now. I'll share more of his birth story at a later date...I just want to show him off now and praise God for a successful delivery and healthy boy! He's sleeping peacefully beside me (shh!) in his hospital bed right now as I catch up in the online world. I've maybe slept 4 hours in the last 36, but I can hardly stay asleep at this point, because of continually staring at him anyway! Elijah is doing wonderful! We'll probably be in the hospital another night because his mom has to do some healing, but I can hardly wait to introduce Jazz and Elijah when we all get to go home. Here are some picture from yesterday!
"Hello, world!...I'm here!""What have I gotten myself into?""Aw...my Daddy's hand""We just did a lot of work, Mommy!""My new family!""One of my first vistors!"...thanks, Kelly!"I'm just too precious"
"I'm just resting up for my new life!"

diaper chatter!

With Baby Boy Blakley on the way, I am trying to prepare as much as possible by gleaning information from great friends who have gone before me in the world of cloth diapering. I'm blessed to have already been given some good, practical advice from my real-life blogging friends, Terra, Talia, and Sheila. Sheila's hosting her very own Diaper Chatter this Thursday to give even more access to diapering wisdom, so I'm very excited! Hop on over to Sheila's blog this week, as she's already sharing some good cloth-diapering insight.

As for me...I haven't changed my boy's bum yet, but I'm planning to spend some time with disposables (amount of time to be determined) until we get used to having our bundle of joy. Then I will transition into my size small FuzziBunz diapers for as long as BBB will fit in them and I can save up some $ to buy size mediums.

welcome, 2009!

Hello!? Where have I been?! My first post in 2009...unbelievable! I have just been out of the blogging loop...knowing that I will be all into blogging soon enough when Baby Blakley arrives and I have lots more to talk about. So here's my update for any of you who even still happen by my pathetically neglected blog...

#1 - I'm huge! See for yourself...even though these were taken several weeks ago...

#2 - I'm so blessed. This pregnancy is flown by so quickly, but I believe it's because I've just felt so good the whole time. I'm very thankful for that. Also, God has blessed us with great friends who have helped us prepare for our baby boy! Check out these fun onesies my friends (pictured above) and I made when they came to visit....Sarah and Kathryn even came from different states! (Love you guys!)

I can't wait to put these on our baby boy!

Also...this is a gift from the ladies I work with at LifeLine...I was just blown away! I love this rocking chair and can't wait to use it!

#3 - The nursery is ready! I think if we would have chosen a name already then we may have some more decorations on the wall, but as of now, this is what our baby's coming home to!

#4 - We love our new home! I know that I definitely have to get some pictures up to show you all, but I guess you'll still have to wait. Other than the nursery, all the pictures of the house I have still show the rooms in disarray! I'll save those for another day.

#5 - I am just days away from being a stay at home mom! I'm excited, yet nervous. I was supposed to work today, but was just not feeling too well. It's hard to believe it's just a matter of days. I'm really going to miss my clients, but I'm looking forward to new doors God is going to open and lots of quality time with my little boy.

#6 - We still do not have a name for Baby Blakley!!! I'm not freaking out, though...we'll have to have one soon enough.

#7 - We saw BB on my 38 week ultrasound yesterday and it looks like he's gonna be chunky, the nurse said! Also, we could see his hair on the ultrasound! He's gonna have a head full! I can't wait to meet him and to see what color it is!

#8 - Only 9 days til my due date!!...anyone wanna guess when I'll deliver and how big he'll be?! and if God has given you the vision for our son's name, please don't hold back!

monthly update!

So...my blogging has been pathetic lately!! (to say the least) But, I just haven't been on the computer much at all. Ok...I take that back...when I have been on the computer lately, I've just been focusing on doing some online shopping for Christmas and for Baby Blakley (yes, we still do not have a name).

In my usual spirit of blogging updates, here goes...
  • I just got in my starter pack order of small cloth diapers...I went with fuzzibunz and was excited to have a 25% off coupon to lessen the blow of the purchase. I can't wait for our son to be in them...they are so cute and soft!...any advice on the best thing to use for a diaper pail?...I've gotta get that next.
  • I also got our bedding in for Baby Blakley...next purchase, I guess, needs to be a crib! With no surprise to anyone who knows me, it is teal and brown gingham. I love it! I went with something fairly plain so Justin can put his artistic skills to work on the nursery walls...
  • ...nursery walls that will be in our very own house!!!! It looks like we will probably be closing on our first (owned) home sometime next week! I can't believe it. Justin has been awesome, handling all the details, so I guess this is kind of sneaking up on me. I've been slowly packing up books, choosing things to give away, and getting myself mentally prepared for another move at Christmas. I'm so excited that we will be in our home before Baby Blakley comes.
  • As for some house details...it's an open floor plan, 3 bedroom, 2 bath, with a garage and a (drumroll please)....dishwasher! Merry Christmas to me! I am also pretty excited about the washer and dryer being in the hallway and not on a cold back porch! Can I just say...I'm so excited.
  • God has just continually been reminding us how blessed we are lately. If it were up to me, I probably would have not been so patient...for this perfect house. We thought our final option was going to be building a house, so we were so amazed when God led us to this 10 year old home that is so similar to what we would have built. Not to mention the sudden drop in interest rates. God is so good!
  • We will soon be living in the town of Jonesville..."across the river" from Elkin! You're all invited over!

productive week! ...with correction!

So...my week in review...
  • I turned 27! Monday (can't believe it) and got some great scrapbooking stuff from Justin that I can't wait to check out and these beautiful flowers!
  • We had a great Ladies Fellowship meeting on Tuesday night at church...now on to planning for December
  • We went with our parents on Monday to look at a house Justin found last week. They love it and we love it!...plans are in the works!
  • Two of my closest clients at work had their babies! Praise the Lord!
  • I had a great OB appointment...it's hard to believe I only have three weeks left! (Um...hello I must have had a "pregnancy moment!"...I have three MONTHS left! Glad you girls read and commented...no...with three weeks left I doubt I'll even have the patience to bullet everything!) I was told I was measuring "perfectly," so I liked hearing that :) ...It would've really been a productive week if we had decided on a name... but Baby Blakley is still doing great!
  • I baked a pumpkin pie...from real pumpkins...tastes pretty good, too!

From decorations.......to dessert!!

  • Justin has been back and forth on the phone with banks and mortgage companies and the owner of the house we're looking at...things are looking good...I'm so glad he's doing the dirty work, though!

  • I decorated for Christmas!! And I'm so glad...it's minimal, because we're hoping to move very soon, but I'm just glad to have my manger scene up and all the beautiful Christmas things. I can't believe we might be moving around Christmas again! Oh well!
  • We saw Fireproof today - finally! And I cried almost the ENTIRE time ...I should have been warned as the pregnant, already emotional woman that I needed to take plenty of tissues. But, I loved it!

night owl

I can tell our baby boy is going to be a night owl just like his parents. Should I just change to a 3rd shift job and get ready for it now? He definitely moves more late at night and throughout the night than he does during the day. I ate some ice cream tonight and Baby Blakley started kicking like crazy. So much that Justin finally got to feel him moving! So exciting!

way to go me!

I'm so proud of myself for posting 11 times in September that I decided to send myself on a trip to New York! ....Well...I am proud of myself and I am going to New York, but the two are separate ideas! It would be cool if I could just reward myself with vacations all the time, but this is good enough for me.

Justin and I are heading to a music conference at the Brooklyn Tabernacle this weekend. We are flying up Wednesday then riding back on Monday with some friends of ours! I'm so excited!!!! We're going to do some touristy stuff on Wednesday and Thursday and then enjoy the conference during the weekend. We get to sing with the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir on Sunday so I will be so pumped up and I have a feeling that this is the weekend I could actually feel Baby Blakley move for the first time! How could he not with all the excitement?!

We're planning to see Phantom of the Opera, eat some New York style pizza (my idea!) and see what else we can get into (that we can afford). I'll miss you blogging buddies over the next days, but I'm sure I'll check in because the internet is everywhere and I can only stay away from it for so long!

Contrary to popular belief...

Even though the poll results were 70% girl vs. 30% boy....we're glad to prove the 70% wrong! We're so excited to be expecting a boy! Everything looked good today...it's definitely a boy! AND he has so far proved himself to be just as lazy as me and Justin. He refused to move!! Thankfully, I have a patient and generous ultrasound tech. She kept trying to get good pictures since the candy bar and coke I had didn't seem to wake our baby boy at all. So...we're gonna go again tomorrow morning and hopefully get some really good pictures...so check back! We did see him moving his mouth today...he's already singing!!
